Welcome to my timeline of our little upgrades.

So often, we only see the finished product on

social media, making it hard to imagine all the

baby steps home owners took to get where they

are today. I hope our house and process can

serve as another anecdotal reference for those

who are also embarking on home ownership.

  1. Plant our balcony fig tree

  2. Plant tulip bulbs saved from last year

  3. Plant my husband’s spider lily

  4. RIP our laundry room floor tiles

gardening

our bedroom window

looks straight into

our neighbor’s window

so we planted a fig

tree we got at a

farmer’s market

for $30

a quick Google search

said that the tree

should be south-facing

and luckily this

happened to be just

that spot 🌞

demolition

those reels make

ripping tiles off the

floor look sooo easy.

instead of pulling

them up in one go,

my huband has been

diligently breaking

them off bit by bit

a few hours at a

time, after work.

since we bought

an older home, we

weren’t sure if our

linoleum floor was

bonded with asbestos

adhesive, which

meant we had to

leave the linoleum

floor intact.
